Welcome to my happy, perky little comic; aptly named "Smackover" after a town in Arkansas whose name I found rather amusing, then later found out that it was quite a hilarious, tiny redneck town... much like the one in Alabama that I reside in. Try not to hold it against me. Keep in mind that this is still a work in progress and the only web page I've ever put any real effort into, but you can still send me hate mail if you want.

Cast

Ryan:
A bit bitter, but still warm-hearted and a little too over-emotional for his own good, the idea of Ryan was basically what spawned this comic. He has a tendency towards bad luck, though usually in drawing this comic, it comes off to me as amusing.

Jack:
Jack is really more spaztic & immature than anything although he does have good intentions. Ryan and Jack were best friends at Smackover High and after Jack's uncle's untimely death last December, they've shared the house that was his uncle's. They are currently surviving on the large guilt checks Jack's rich, CEO dad sends every month to try to buy his love after he left his mom for another man, resulting in her commitment.

Origins

Okay, I know a lot of you wonder to yourselves late at night when you can't sleep, "Where the hell did she get the idea for that terrible, cartoony insult to humanity?" NOW, you too can know! How special.
Okay so one night, really really late when I was very delerious, I came across this and practically died a wonderful death laughing at it. Not to say that I didn't feel a certain element of being sorry for the poor guy. I mean, an online essay contest?! Awww, how cute!, but sheesh... it's kinda sad. Later, it was followed up with this (I've edited out some stuff for the safety/privacy/whatever of all other parties). So, me being the bored insomniac that I am, I read the comments and came across one in particular that pretty much brought about all the trauma, via Ripple Effect, of that which is Smackover. Here's the comment page. And NOW you understand! WOW! Isn't enlightenment all euphoric and stuff?
